Alas, the 3 foam filled doors are not buoyant enough to support us both, and there is no material available to build sufficient pontoons. Another raft building failure, just not enough trash on the Rhine. Three five gallon buckets and some calk could have put this boat on the water. Could have. Now we depart again on foot, continuing to follow the river downstream.

Hitchhiked 50km to Vallendar today then just so happened to find what we have been seeking for days, a trash dump beside the river. We will be building the raft overnight so people do not bother us. Main materials include four heavy wooden doors, 4 5-gallon buckets with lids, and a mini-fridge with all the refridgeration components removed. Should be floating by morning!

Just passed through that historic little town with a wierd name. Castles, vineyards and mountains everywhere now. This section of the Rhine has a 2000 year history and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Not having received any local Occupy support, we chose to have our ending march to the police station today rather than Saturday. Unlike the Internet comments, almost everyone who spoke with us in person did not like for police to have the power to demand ID without reasonable suspicion.

Goodbye Eltville, we will never forget you.

Currently making signs. Will Soon move to start the occupation on the tourist riverfront. Arrest seems likely. Local newspaper article printed and radio station reporter coming to meet us, but still no local Occupy support. A few tourists have taken photos. One woman said she had already read the newspaper article. This blog has had 600 unique viewers in the past 12 hours. All said, we already feel that our efforts have been successful. Any further attention to this issue will just be an added bonus. Occupy Eltville continues.
Photo: Andrea(left)from the local public radio station came out to talk and even made a donation! She thinks that random police ID check is OK unless they save your personal data. We thank Andrea and everyone else who has come out to talk.

These two officers asked us for ID “because you are foreigneners”. We refused and were arrested. Thursday at noon begins Occupy Eltville at the riverfront near Rosengasse Street. The event will last through Saturday, with a march to the Eltville police station on that day at noon.
Occupy Eltville is in solidarity with Occupy Wall St, Blockupy Frankfurt and all those who fight against state-sponsored harrassment of foreigners.
